A little more about Amber.

What, if any, other languages are you fluent or familiar with?

I am familiar with Spanish.

What is your favorite part about working in a salon?

Everything! I love interacting with people. Hearing their stories, the transformation for them and their reaction to the change. Making them feel beautiful and good.

If you could spend one day in another person's shoes, who would you be and why?

When asked, one would expect an answer to be a famous celebrity or some guru who has changed people for the better. I myself, and it could easily be because I am a mother, thought of it and was drawn to that of a child, girl or boy alike. What's a day-like in the shoes/eyes of a child? Being in the beauty industry, I'm always intrigued by creativity and what I could do and improve as an artist. That being said, I realized how interesting a child's mind is. Even within a small conversation, while they color or play with their toys. If you are looking, you can find just how inspiring a child's world is. What creativity and colorful, free spirited imagination they provide. Sounds like a lot of fun to me.

What is the one thing you always wanted to be growing up?

Ever since I was 6 years old, I wanted to be a singer. I always found a sweet escape in music. I was in my own space, in my world. Still to this day I allow myself to get lost in it. I remember going to bed at night, oddly enough, rocking and singing myself to sleep. By the way, I have never told that to anyone! I remember knowing I wanted to be a singer in the first grade when I auditioned for the Talent Show at my school, along with my best friend, we sang "Jesus Loves Me." It was a short song, but a big deal for this first grader. It changed my world! I joined the Talent Show every year after in elementary school. I also joined choir during my middle school years. One year, the choir was working on the song "Beauty and the Beast" and I suggested they do a solo. It wasn't in the plan at first, but my instructor held auditions, and who got the part? You got it...this girl! I was so excited for it. Unfortunately, my family moved from the area and I was zoned to a different school and was unable to do the performance. I found out years later, that the teacher changed it back to the whole choir singing the song because she didn't find anyone else that could do the part quite like me! I've auditioned for American Idol and The Voice, both cool experiences. Needless to say, I never became that famous singer...but! I sure know how to rock it out at Karaoke!

What is your perfect Saturday afternoon?

I'd have to say a cool autumn Saturday afternoon outside, spending time with my two boys hiking, ice cream trip, anything. Just creating memories with them.

What is the best part of your day?

The best part of my day would be mornings. There's something about the refreshing feeling of a new day with a cup of coffee in hand. You're never promised tomorrow, so being given another day, a blank page, and another chance to do what you haven't...yup, that's my choice.
